For several years St Andrew has provided ongoing scholarship support for a number of students at Methodist University of Indonesia. A small portion of this support comes from the Mission Ministry budget, but for the most part the money has come from the generous support of our church members. The tuition cost, approximately $300 USD per year, is extremely low by American standards, but well beyond the amount most students in that country can afford to pay. This especially is true in the rural communities. We have made a commitment to support four students from a region that was devastated by the recent tsunami. If contributions exceed this amount, we support other students through the general scholarship fund.  By earning a degree from the Methodist University, these students can break the cycle of poverty and despair and contribute to the economic and emotional recovery of their country.
