The CrossRoads
The CrossRoads is...
• The Youth/Young Adult Mission of St. Andrew UMC
• A safe place to ask tough questions
• A Christian Ministry staffed with caring people that understand that not everyone is in the same place in our journey of faith
• A place that treats your faith AND your questions SERIOUSLY
• A Ministry that doesn't believe being Christian equals BORING
In case you're new here; let me introduce myself. My name is Pat Sleeth and I'm the pastor of the CrossRoads Ministry here at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. The CrossRoads is our ministry to youth, grades 6 through 12 and beyond, also ministering to our young adults in college and early career age: think twenty-somethings.
I believe the CrossRoads is an amazing place to be, and, if you give us a chance, I'm betting you'll agree with us. We have two main strengths. The first is our leaders. They are dedicated volunteers who place a healthy priority on their own faith and help our students form their own important relationships with each other, our church and community, and, of course, in their own relationship with Jesus Christ. I warn you; our leaders DO NOT think that being a Christian equals being boring! Our second strength is our programming. We focus on you and your age group. You won't find "dumbed down" adult programming here. Nor will you find "jazzed up" children's programming offered either. Instead, you'll find our leadership teams offering the very best programming options we can find for each age group and each ministry team. And, when necessary, we'll create our own.
Now, why do we go to all that trouble? Well, frankly, we do this because we know you are a unique person with real questions about life and faith and we take those questions seriously. We don't try to create "Christians just like us." We don't believe in cookie-cutter Christians who all look and act the same. We want to help each of our students find ways to explore their own faith. We'll challenge you to grow as a whole person: emotionally, physically and spiritually and we'll be right beside you on your journey "as close as you need us," but we'll give you space when you need that as well. We promise you we won't offer trite, easy answers. We'll just offer you a safe place to ask tough questions and, hopefully, help you find some answers.
If that sounds like something that might interest you; give us a try. Take a look through our webpage and see what we offer. We think you'll be glad you did. Welcome to the CrossRoads! Come grow with us!
