Missions Work Area

What is a Mission?
This Missions Work Area has a sense of purpose to address the needs of the least among us, through our best use of our gifts. We focus on efforts that resonate with us, whether it is through a special tie with our congregation, or through an ability we might feel particularly well suited for providing. Saint Andrews UMC has many missions efforts. Besides Community Ministries, which is usually local in nature, and many ministries provided by youth, Crossroads, and adult groups, there is a work area specifically for addressing global ministry needs. This Missions Work Area has a sense of purpose to address the needs of the least among us.
Global ministries we are currently supporting include:
- Africa University (Zimbabwe)
- Four Homes of Mercy (Jerusalem)
- UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
- Bashor Children's Home (Goshen, IN)
- Operation Classroom (Liberia and Sierra Leone)
- Midwest Missions Distribution Center (Chatham, IL)
- Methodist University of Indonesia Scholarships
Maybe YOU would like to be involved with supporting these missions or maybe you know about a mission we should include! In addition to providing donations, we have mission trips, we collect needed items such as flood buckets and filled backpacks, we even provide leadership as some members are on the boards of some of these organizations. There are many ways to be involved. Please contact committee chair Van Neie, or any committee member.
