Worship

Written by St Andrew on . Updated

In this hurry up world, all too often, we shelf what appears to be unnecessary.  Does worship really matter?   I submit that it does.  Knowing that God exists is not enough.   He wants us with Him in heart, body and soul.  If we believe in our precious Lord we are called to worship.  Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His footstool; He is holy.  Psalm 99:5

Our bibles have countless examples of worship.  Jesus bowed his head and worshipped God not once in a while when it was convenient, but endlessly.  We are to lead our lives by His example.  He shows us the way.   Matthew 4:10   Jesus said to him “Away from me, Satan!  For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only”

What an awesome way to show thanks to God for every blessing.  Blessings more numerous than the stars!  The very thought fills my heart to overflowing and walks me into church to praise Him!  Oh what a wonderful and loving God we have!  To come to Him in His house is such a privilege. Such a joy!    Praise to the Lord.  Praise, O servants of the lord,  praise the name of the Lord.  Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forever more.  From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.  Psalm 113:1-3

Church is a refuge that sets us apart from the hustle of a busy world.  An island of quiet and solace where we can seek God and reflect on His word.  I love Sundays and the peace this time brings to my soul.  We rise to our feet to hear the reading of His word.  We thank God for the hearing and the instructions His precious words bring.   For all men are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever and this is the word that was preached to you.  1 Peter 1:24-25

It is amazing for me to sit in a fellowship of believers and to feel the love and support they bring.  Spending several months each year away has taught a greater appreciation of my church family.  We need each other to be complete in our faith.  Isolation can turn us into dying embers.   Jesus asked of God, for believers everywhere “ May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”  John 17:23

The bible says to sing and make a joyful noise unto the Lord.  Oh how I love the songs we sing and the message the choir brings in music.  This special way to worship is always a delight.  I can see God smile at the sound of our voices raised in unison and love.  Together we join in praising and thanking God, reading scripture, seeking His peace, singing both old and new songs and asking for greater understanding. These are acts of love to our amazing Savior!  These are all ways to glorify Him! This is worship!
