The average family in the US spends 5-15% of their income on food; for lower income families that percentage may be as much as 34%. St. Andrew is a host site for King Foods, whose “mission is to promote Jesus Christ and provide affordable food while developing relationships, fellowship and outreach within churches and their communities.” When you spend less on food, you have more money for other essentials, to save or available for charitable giving.

King Foods is committed to providing quality, nutritious food at significant discounts, 40-60% less than retail grocery store prices! This is not a fundraiser or one-time event. There are no income restrictions or applications to complete. Everyone is eligible; if you eat, you qualify! Each month’s menu is different; access this month’s menu and place your order at kingfoods.org. You may also bring a check or cash with your order to the church. Distribution is here at St. Andrew UMC, 4703 N 50 W, West Lafayette, IN 47906.

Here are some ideas for maximizing your food dollars through King Foods:

  • ♦  Purchase a box for someone who is recovering from illness or injury and save them trips to the grocery store
  • ♦  Gift a box to a new mom; she will be thrilled to have meals planned and not have to take that new baby grocery shopping!
  • ♦  Buy a box to be given to someone in the community; the church office receives calls each week requesting financial assistance.
  • ♦  Purchase a box for yourself and use the money saved to assist in sponsoring someone who is participating in a mission trip.
