At St. Andrew, Christmas is a special season filled with fantastic worship services, children's events, and extraordinary music. However, we also know that it can be a difficult time of year for those who are experiencing hardship of any kind, and our annual Blessing Boxes (formerly known as Blessing of the Cookies) reaches out to these individuals and families.
Volunteers deliver tasty care packages to the homes of people who may have had extended illnesses or hospitalization, our elderly and homebound, those who have lost a loved one, or folks simply who have had an especially tough year. Packages include homemade sweet treats, healthy snacks, and other thoughtful handmade items.
Our Blessing Boxes outreach reminds hurting members of our community that they are not forgotten and that their church family loves and cares for them.
When We Meet
We typically have a prep session to make items for the care packages in mid-December in the St. Andrew kitchen. All are welcome, and childcare is provided.
The Blessing of the Blessing Boxes (when our care packages are assembled and boxed) generally takes place on the last Saturday before Christmas. It lasts about an hour, and then volunteers will deliver the packages to their recipients. Anyone can help!
Everyone is also invited to donate homemade cookies for the care packages. They need to be dropped off in the St. Andrew kitchen by the day before the Blessing.
