St. Andrew Scholarship Recipients 2023-2024
May 17, 2023
The St. Andrew Scholarship Committee wishes to announce that two scholarships were awarded for the 2023-2024 academic year. We want to congratulate Alicia Zeh and Megan Stohr!
Alicia has been a member of St. Andrew for many years. She is currently enrolled at Purdue University majoring in Biological Engineering. When she was younger, Alicia participated in Vacation Bible School and Breakaway. She also served as an usher at St. Andrew on Sunday mornings. She wrote that a favorite childhood memory was attending church service and then going to Sunday brunch with her family. While at Purdue, Alicia has attended the City of God. She is also on the executive committee of the Purdue University Dance Marathon. The Dance Marathon raises money to benefit Riley Hospital. This summer she is working at Camp Riley. Camp Riley offers barrier-free activities so children who have been treated at Riley Hospital can experience a full camp experience.
Megan is a Spanish education major at Purdue University. She noted that college brought her closer to her faith and God. She visited the Wesley Foundation, and she immediately felt welcomed. She completed the confirmation process and joined the United Methodist Church through St. Andrew. Her involvement at the Wesley Foundation includes serving as Vice President and co-leading the sophomore Bible study. She is also the co-coordinator of the Winterization service project. The Winterization project serves the community by raking leaves, cleaning gutters, and washing windows. She works as an athletic tutor during the academic year, and she is volunteering at an after-school program this summer.
If you would like to see this fund continue for future students, please designate your donation to the St. Andrew Scholarship Fund. You can also contact Greg Dietz or Janée LaFuze for additional information. This fund was started by Loraine Edwards and has continued to today due to the generous giving of this church. We encourage future and current students to apply for the 2024-2025 scholarship next spring.
