Jubilee Christmas 2020

Jubilee Christmas is a program coordinated by Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) in partnership with local churches and organizations. The goal of Jubilee is to assist the unemployed and under-employed, as well as single-parent families and others in need. Jubilee Christmas allows the parents to be the heroes at Christmas. As you can imagine, Jubilee Christmas will look much different this year; however, the need in our community is great.

With your help, twenty-five families (screened by LUM) will participate in Jubilee Christmas at St. Andrew on Saturday, December 12. This year, due to COVID restrictions, Jubilee Christmas will be a curbside event. Rather than inviting our guests inside for an event, we will be preselecting and packaging all of their goodies and loading them into their cars curbside while making it as festive an experience as we can. We’ll serve coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies while we load things up; play Christmas music; and offer up St. Andrew hospitality.

Each family receives gift cards and/or certificates as well as stocking stuffers from LUM.

St. Andrew then adds to those items and fills a storage container with household items, cookies, additional gift cards (if money allows), a hand-made afghan and centerpiece, hats, mitten/gloves, and books for each child.

What we need for this year's Jubliee Christmas:

Since many are not attending worship in person at this time, we will not be putting up the tree with gift tags. Instead, we will have a link to a SignUpGenius where you will be able to select the ages and genders of the children for whom you would like to purchase a gift. There will be more instructions available on the SignUpGenius.

  • Toys (new, unwrapped) for ages 0-12
  • Wrapping supplies
  • Hats and mitten/gloves
  • Books (new, for ages 0-12 primarily, but teen books welcome as well)

Please bring toys (unwrapped and with two sets of batteries) to the church by Tuesday, December 8. We will be holding a special toy drop-off from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, at the church (at the back door near the Jr. High Room). If that time doesn’t work for you, please drop toys off at the church during regular office hours (preferably M-Th mornings).

  • Monetary gifts
    • Financial contributions can be placed in the offering plate, dropped off in the church office, or made on St. Andrew’s online giving page. Be sure to note “Jubilee Christmas” on your check or giving envelope.

Monetary Donation to Jubilee

Any excess funds will be split between LUM’s Good Samaritan Fund and St. Andrew’s Pastor’s Assistance Fund. Please contact Melissa Martin (765-586-5503) or Cindy Nycz (765-714-8255) if you have any questions. Consider being a part of this wonderful celebration. You’ll be glad you did!

Several volunteers are needed to make Jubilee Christmas happen every year for the families that God sends us. There are many ways you can help from contacting our Jubilee families to baking cookies, to help set up, and more! Click on the link below to volunteer.
