Suspension of In-Person Worship
November 16, 2020
As COVID-19 positivity numbers and deaths continue to rise swiftly throughout Indiana, including Tippecanoe County, Bishop Trimble urges all UMC congregations in Indiana to suspend in-person worship until further notice.
In a Town Hall related to the COVID-19 crisis hosted by the Bishop on Monday, IU Health experts said two things with a unified voice:
- The virus is spreading exponentially in ways it did not behave even a few months ago since it was given a chance to thrive by more indoor gatherings in churches, bars, and restaurants.
- The next 8-12 weeks are critical in keeping the spread under control as much as possible as we await the unveiling and distribution of the vaccine(s) in the months ahead.
Therefore, until further notice, we will suspend all in-person worship services except for the personnel required to Livestream the services on our website and Facebook page.
The Church office will remain open for the time being during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
Pray for God’s guidance as we seek to stay connected in this holiday season. It is a hardship for all of us. However, we must be willing to do in the short run what is best for the long run.
Blessings
Pastor Chris
